Catalogue, Magazine and Booklet printing sizes

TheInternetPrinter offers catalogues and booklets four sizes:

  • A4 – 210mm x 297mm, or the same size as a standard business letter, and the full colour booklet opens to twice that size;
  • A5 – 148mm x 210mm, or half the size of a standard business letter, and the full colour booklet opens to the size of a standard business letter.
  • A6 – 105mm x 148mm, or one-quarter the size of a standard business letter, and the full colour booklet opens to half the size of a standard business letter.
  • DL – 99mm x 210mm, or one-third the size of a standard business letter, and the full colour booklet opens to two-thirds the size of a standard business letter.

You will no doubt know what size catalogue, magazine or booklet you want printed; however, we suggest that you consider the place where the catalogue or booklet is to be distributed. Specifically:

  • If the catalogue or booklet is at a point of sale, then consider the larger A4 catalogue or booklet, as the larger booklet suggests a higher quality — the idea is that if you went to all the trouble of having a large booklet, then you miust have confidence in your product.
  • If the booklet is to be sent by way of mail or letterbox-drop, then we suggest you use the smaller A5 booklet — anecdotal evidence suggests that householders receive many A4 booklets in the mail and are accustomed to ignoring booklets that are A4-sized, but those same householders are not as accustomed to receiving A5 booklets, so they might just read them.

Multiple designs

You may have up to ten different designs with your one order. However, each design MUST be ordered in equal quantities. Therefore, you may order 1,000 of each of three designs (i.e.: for a total order of 3,000 booklets), but you may not order 1,000 of one design and 2,000 of a second design.

It is easy to see how the price will alter if you choose to purchase many designs on the one order.

  1. Choose how many jobs (i.e.: unique designs) you want. The example on the right has selected "2" different jobs (see green box).
  2. Choose how the quantity that you want for each job (i.e.: for each unique design). The example on the right has selected "500" for each job.
  3. The "Total quantity to be purchased" is then calculated (see red box).

 

 

Preparing booklet files for printing

We suggest you read our pages that have some information on how to create a press-ready file for a commercial printing company. If you read those pages, then you will have a better chance of  getting the high quality job that you want.

When you create your own booklet files, we suggest the layout should be as it is printed. So:

  • The first page of the file will consist of the outside front & back cover;
  • The second page of the file will be the inside front and back cover;
  • The third page of the file will consist of the first and last pages of the booklet;
  • The fourth page of the file will consist of the second and second-last pages of the booklet;
  • And so on and so on.
